Oh wow, I'd never read that before. I'd never had any interest in reading his book, but that def. turned me off of it for sure now - GOOD JORB. I especially hate the whole creators/celebs daring people to not buy their work because you don't fit into their idea of what their fanbase should be etc (when it's usually more of a spurned one-up OH YOU AREN'T GONNA BUY MY THING WELL I DON'T WANT YOU TO BUY IT blah blah). I got asked by someone to stop coming to his website once, like not even to stop commenting (most of the time I didn't) just that he read his logs and made some snarky ass comment etc. IT'S MY INTERNETS!!

Eww.

But yeah, Beland seemed a real asshole there. Bad stuff.

And turn off your Google Alert, it's the devil, THE DEVIL!!

Storm Hawks: The action figures come with a DVD that gives a nice overview of the setting and characters via their "home movies". Nice promo and good viewing on its own merits.

Being Dumb Online: My favorite is still <a href="http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2006/10/06/what-i-bought-4-october-2006/" target="new" rel="nofollow">Tom Beland vs. Greg Burgas</a>. Priceless! Killed any chance of my ever picking up TSSTG or anything else he writes.

And I have a Google Alert still set up from the PCS/Soma days when my ears were constantly burning. Now it's just like automated ego surfing. :-)

I haven't watched it yet, but those Stormhawks toys are pretty sweet. I was also tempted to pick one up and give it a paint touch up when I saw some at Target last week.

I agree with your thing about writers etc letting loose. I've been bombarded by emails from 3 different pseudo-celebs lately thanks to that GODDAMN google alert thing, which needs to go away. Now anytime you mention someone kind of famous, 2 minutes later they show up expecting to have at you and give what for etc. It's ridiculous. I've been lucky, in that in 2 of the 3 times, I was killed with kindness (and even offered free tickets to a gig, unfortunately I'm not traveling to philly to see the show BUT I SHOULD), but I've been pretty nice lately. The incidents like the Slott one, the one with Simone, even seeing Tom Brevoort, and even reviews I'd done in the past, it really makes me dislike these people when they confront reviews or blogs in that tone - that sort of let me clear the air but have the last word but act above it all at the same time thing. Just let your fricking work speak for itself, and let pundits, bloggers, and reviewers voice whatever opinions they have - you'll never be able to combat that anyways so why bother, and you just end up looking like AN ASSHOLE when you do, no matter what. What's that saying about seeing 2 people argue from a distance etc?

I can't wait till I'm pseudo-famous, I'm gonna be unbearable. OH BOY!
