MARKETING: Superman Joins MySpace

The Superman Returns marketing onslaught continues... Man Of Steel Seeks Friends AN AMERICAN CULTURAL ICON HAS landed in the leading American social networking site with the posting of a MySpace profile to promote the new "Superman Returns," premiering June 28. By Thursday evening, just five days after the site quietly went live, the profile had attracted 12,719 MySpace "friends," many responding to the site's slogan, "Show us your 'S'," with photos of themselves striking the iconic shirt-ripping pose to reveal the well-known symbol--including at least one fan who had the "S" tattooed directly on his chest. POLL: Niche Comics Sites?

Thinking "aloud" here...NEWSarama and CBR have gobbled up two of the better group blogs out there recently, while peripheral niche sites like the Ninth Art are shutting down. Meanwhile, the sleeping giant, Wizard, is finally doing something with their web site, already snagging exclusive columns from Bendis and Johns, and likely becoming the new home for most Marvel and DC exclusives. ON THE WEB: Spider-Man

This is by far the best edition of On the Web. Below you'll find the first episode of the Japanese live action Spider-Man TV show. The opening credits are incredibly good. In fact it's hilarious! I have two favorite parts during the show open. The first being the amazing use of freeze frames, and the second is..... Oh I shouldn't spoil it. I beg you to be patient and download the whole show. There are many funny scenes. All you have to do is scan through the episode once it's fully downloaded. I promise you that toward the end of…

Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

Ignoring the kind of luck it takes to catch only their second loss in 10 games, today's Mets game was a blast as Isaac and I -- along with evil Dan, Yankee fan and official bad luck charm! -- enjoyed some great weather out at Shea Stadium, decked out in sorta-matching Mets gear. While it wasn't his first baseball game, it's probably the first one he'll really remember, and it was definitely the first time he asked questions about how to play. He wasn't even one yet when we went to the first post-9/11 game, sleeping through Piazza's home run and…
