Google Me

A co-worker/friend of mine is tracking himself through googlerankings.com, trying to get his site listed as the number one search on Google, Yahoo! and MSN for his name. Out of curiousity, I manually searched my full name on each of the search engines to see what my years on the internet have reaped.Google Top 5:Comic Book Commentarycomiccommentary.blogspot.com/loudpoet productionswww.loudpoet.com/BUZZSCOPE :: Establishing Shots #4: One Year Laterwww.buzzscope.com/features.php?id=1209Blogger: User Profile: Guy Gonzalezwww.blogger.com/profile/1165003louderARTS Projectwww.louderarts.com/poets/gonzalez/I'm a little surprised by the last three searches as they seem rather specific, especially the Buzzscope column and my louderARTS page. I'd have expected my staff page on Buzzscope to…

COMMENT: Moon Knight Hype; WonderCon News

Joe Quesada's hyping the new Moon Knight series, and while he's been on point lately - at least with the examples he gives here - I have to admit to cringing a little bit whenever he goes in to spin mode in connection to anything I'm looking forward to.NRAMA: "Scribe" - If you had to pick ONE new ongoing title coming out sometime this year as your own "One to Watch", which would it be and why?JQ: That book is simply called, Moon Knight! It is everyone's favorite new title up here at Marvel. Charlie [Huston] and David [Finch] are…

LINK: The X-Men (Vs.) Sneak Preview

The boys over at Metagame have an article up with pictures of the swag available at this weekend's preview tournament. Everyone gets a side-by-side stacker of Colossus and Wolverine doing the fastball special. Playmats, deck tins, and T-Shirts are random door prizes. The extended art Snikt! card is for top players in the tournaments. I've been to three sneak previews and each one was better than the previous. It's a great place to refine your knowledge of the game. You get 5 packs to build a 30-card deck, and you're on your way! Generally, seasoned players are really helpful to…

COMMENT: Code Black

Damn you, ABC!From America's Funniest Home Videos to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to Desperate Housewives, ABC slowly but surely took possession of my Sunday nights last season, to the point where our entire night is now structured around watching as much of those shows as we can. We eat during AHV, bathe the kids during EM, iron clothes during DW...and always turn the TV off before we can be tempted into Grey's Anatomy. Then the Super Bowl came, and two little words kept me in front of the TV when the game was finished: Code Black. The commercials for the Super Bowl…

COMMENT: Marketing Musings

Stealing a few minutes on Bloglines during lunch, a post from The Beat caught my eye, wherein Heidi links to a list of the top selling OEL of 2005. OEL=Original English Language, aka American manga. (Check out Tania Del Rio's great column on the terminology debate, "You Say Potato, I Say Manga".)I've only read one of the books on the list (Dramacon #1), and have a handful of the others on my radar, but I was a bit surprised to see Steady Beat #1 ranked at #27. Lacking actual sales figures, there's no telling what the differential is between the…

Blog, I have forsaken thee…

Remember when I used to post every day, sometimes multiple times a day? Those were heady times, between the war and the elections and the poetry scene, etc. Nowadays, I don't think I'm even averaging one post a week.Part of the reason is that comics have pretty much taken over the little bit of free time I have, so most of what I have to say these days either goes on CBC or Buzzscope. On the personal front, I've always been reluctant to get too personal here, and Salomé is doing a much better job of keeping people updated on…
