Stroke Me, Stroke Me — Nine Months Later

tldr: I'm doing pretty good physically now, but the mental side effects of having an unexplained stroke in the middle of a pandemic really suck. Running helps. "Go with what is. Use what happens."

That Time I Had a Literal Stroke

Turning off the faucet after brushing my teeth, I felt a tingling sensation in my right hand that quickly raced up my arm, which was quickly replaced by racing numbness. The first thing I thought of was that “narm” scene from Six Feet Under, a show I’ve never watched but had been memed into my consciousness years ago.

Let's get started, shall we? 😍🔧 #Corvair #corvaircommunity Merry Christmas, #corvaircommunity. Santa has plans for the Spring! The Corvair is going to need some work over the Winter so #NeverStopDriving will have to live on via my Hagerty stocking, and maybe some of the presents under the tree? 🤔🤞🏽 Weird, random grinding sound from the engine at idle suddenly started happening while driving, and then the GEN / FAN lights came on... 🤔 (Check the story for audio.) Maverick in Mexico. The crosstube on my air cleaner would constantly shift out of place and I couldn't figure out why until I was watching a YouTube video about syncing the carbs and noticed the guy had J bolts on his?!? Looked them up in the Clark's catalog and there they were, hiding in plain sight (and exploded fine print) on page 61! Also bought new gaskets (which had fallen out), and a linkage clip because the main throttle would randomly come loose. Put them all in today, and it ran a lot smoother for the whole test drive. It's the little things, even at the end of the season. Happy anniversary! I officially became an "old car guy" one year ago today. No regrets. 😍 "Unsafe at any speed" and "Fix it again, Tony" had a nice day out driving. Took the #Corvair out for a morning of wandering, ended up in the park with a good book.
